ARTS IN TROUBLE DUE TO COVID-19

Please consider contributing the price of a ticket or donation to a performance you are unable to attend by clicking the "Register" button* related to the event and "purchasing" a ticket or making a donation directly that event's sponsoring organization.

Artists, artisans and performers of all types are being especially hard hit by the financial impact of COVID-19. Much if not all of their income is obtained directly from performance revenues which they of course are now not receiving. Organizations and ensembles are also losing a major fraction of their budgeted income. There is a real possibility that we will be losing many of the organizations and performances that we have come to rely upon for inspiration, joy and enjoyment in our lives.

ArtsGourmet is encouraging event managers to continue posting events which have been planned but are now cancelled or deferred as well as events they may be planning beyond Labor Day.

*PLEASE NOTE: The "REGISTER" button is simply a link to the ticket/donation page on the site which offers the event. There is no user registration on ArtsGourmet.

Arts Gourmet is your portal for finding local arts events of interest. Select the "Begin Your Search" link above to quickly find upcoming events in general categories. For more selective searching go to CATEGORIES or TIMES in the main menu. Go to SEARCH ALL to perform a completely custom search. Events managers wishing to post their event may login or apply for posting privileges in the POST EVENTS area.

Note: ArtsGourmet is in its roll-out phase. Expect the number of listed events to increase substantially as we approach the 2020-21 concert season.

The Search Sidebar

Open this sidebar to access search features available to refine a search relevant to the page you're on.

You will find that the title of the search forms in this sidebar are always the same as the category (or category group) that is pertinent to the page you're on.

The form inputs are only:

the search text box (which allows searching for any word or words and is always present for any search form),
the address around which you are interested in searching, and
the radius of the circular area around that address where you would like your events to be located.

In all cases the results of a search will be all upcoming events (regardless of date) for the predetermined category named in the title of the form

Begin Your Search Button

The Begin Your Search button brings up a page of Category Search links that will return upcoming events in the indicated general categories. Further sub-category specification is possible by navigating to other pages in the same general category.

GENERAL

Arts events are grouped into six broad category groupings. Each of these groupings is further subdivided in submenu items. Selecting one of these submenu items yields a list of upcoming events in several similar genres. It is the broadest search net cast by the ArtsGourmet search engine.

The GENERAL menu item also contains links to lists of,

all events by city
all events by venue name

SPECIFIC

The SPECIFIC menu item links to individual arts categories or genres. It provides the quickest route to locating specific event types. Selecting a submenu yields a list of upcoming events in that category. All occurrence dates and locations are included in the results. Further refinement may be done using the search tools in the right sidebar.

TIMES

Submenu items under the TIMES menu item link to time blocks during which category groupings identified in the GENERAL area may be found. Each of these submenu links also includes a further link to a CALENDAR of these event groupings.

RECURRING

The RECURRING menu area includes:

Recurring Events, which are those events which occur generally on a weekly or monthly schedule throughout an extended performance season. These are listed both as upcoming events and in calendar listings under the appropriate links.
Open Mic Events are those which include audience or visitor participation in some form, usually with some form of preselection process or by invitation. These are also usually (but not always) recurring events. They are also listed both as upcoming events and in calendar listings under the appropriate links.
the RECURRING area also contains a SEARCH ALL link to a fully general search form. This form allows full specification of all type, time, and place event properties to yield the most focused search results.

POST EVENTS

The POST EVENTS link in the main menu takes you to the Posting Central page where you may login to post your organization's events or apply for registration to enable posting.
