About Prismatic Utopia: A Threefold Exploration of Shaker Color
About Prismatic Utopia: A Threefold Exploration of Shaker Color
Historically, the Shakers lived in a prismatic world, painting their objects and buildings with “adorning and beauteous colors,” as noted by Elder Calvin Green. Artist Brece Honeycutt will discuss the practical, temporal and the spiritual uses of color, including two ‘new pigments’ Prussian Blue and Chrome Yellow. Brece Honeycutt has a current installation in the Shaker Office at Fruitlands Museum entitled, anything but drab.
