Brubeck Brothers Quartet Salutes Dave Brubeck

Brubeck Brothers Quartet Salutes Dave Brubeck

With Beverly High School Jazz Band

The group’s creativity, technique and improvisation can be heard in their uncompromising music, which reflects their dedication to melody, rhythm, culture and the spontaneous spirit of jazz. Chris and Dan Brubeck have been making music together practically all their lives.  Drummer Dan and bassist, trombonist, and composer Chris cut their first record together in 1966—nearly a half century ago. They’ve subsequently played a variety of styles in a number of different groups, as well as with their father, jazz giant Dave Brubeck, and with their own Brubeck Brothers Quartet. With Dan and Chris as the foundation, guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb, complete this dynamic quartet.  They perform at concert series, colleges, and jazz festivals across North America and Europe including the Newport, Detroit, Montreal, Playboy/Hollywood Bowl, and Monterey Jazz Festivals.

Bull Run - Vanilla Fudge

Bull Run - Vanilla Fudge

In 1967, Vanilla Fudge rocked the world with a new sound, influencing a generation of musicians and creating a legion of loyal fans. They were "one of the few American links between psychedelia and what soon became 'heavy metal." Things started to pick up for the band in 1968: early in the year, they headlined the Fillmore West with the Steve Miller Band, performed "You Keep Me Hangin' On" on The Ed Sullivan Show, and released their second album, The Beat Goes On. That summer, Atco reissued "You Keep Me Hangin' On," and the second time around it climbed into the Top Ten. It was followed by Renaissance, one of VF's best albums, which also hit the Top 20. The band supported it by touring with Jimi Hendrix, opening several dates on Cream's farewell tour, and late in the year touring again with the fledgling Led Zeppelin as their opening act. While the band did record original material, they were best known for their loud, heavy, slowed-down arrangements of contemporary pop songs, blowing them up to epic proportions and bathing them in a trippy, distorted haze.

Currently, three of the four original members, keyboardist Mark Stein, guitarist Vince Martell and drummer Carmine Appice are touring along with Pete Bremy replacing Tim Bogert on bass. Their big hits, “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” “Take Me For A While” and "Season Of The Witch" are still played on classic rock stations. They were, and are, masters of reinterpreting other artist’s hit songs.

Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway

Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway

On her new album, City of Gold, Molly Tuttle -- joined by her band Golden Highway -- shares a batch of spellbinding stories that span time and place: wildly colorful fables populated by gold miners and fortune tellers, true-to-life tales of love and loss and a fast-changing world, and a reimagining of Alice in Wonderland set in the backwoods of Kentucky, to name just a few. The follow-up to 2022’s Crooked Tree—a widely lauded LP that won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album, with Tuttle earning a Best New Artist nomination—the Northern California-raised musician’s fourth full-length album brings those narratives to a resplendent form of bluegrass rooted in her virtuosic guitar playing. This time around, the Nashville-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist chose to record with her live band -- Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle, vocals), Dominick Leslie (mandolin), Kyle Tuttle (banjo, vocals), and Shelby Means (bass, vocals) -- for the first time, lending a potent new energy to her exquisitely crafted sound.

Bull Run - Slambovian Circus of Dreams

Bull Run - Slambovian Circus of Dreams

New York's Slambovian Circus of Dreams has been coloring ‘outside the lines’ of the Americana genre with their fantastic stories and performances since forming 20 years ago in the Hudson Valley of New York. Their Woodstock-tinged psychedelia has a hint of southern rock, celtic and British folk combined with solid songwriting - a slice of Americana pie that is irresistable!

This June the band returns to the UK following a wildly successful 2022 tour headlining Fairport's Cropredy Festival, Wickham Festival and more where they were voted “Best Band” by fans and promoters alike. Playing towns and festivals from Lochinvar to Penzance since 2008, the Slambovians’ touring history in the UK goes back several years, so they look forward to this tour where once again they bring good will, songs and a bit of magic to new audiences as well as the faithful who have been waiting. Joziah Longo (the resident shaman of Slambovia), leads with vocals described as "soothing and bewitching as a snake oil tonic.” Longtime bandmates Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, mandolin, flute) and guitarist/mandolin wizard Sharkey McEwen bring their own magic to the Slambovian brew with “a little help from their friends” - RJ McCarty (keys, bass, sax), Bob Torsello (bass) and Matthew Abourezk (drums).
