A grandiose work, Ravel envisioned Daphnis & Chloé as “a vast musical fresco, in which [he] was less concerned with archaism than with fidelity to the Greece of [his] dreams.”

David Francey is a Scottish-born Canadian carpenter-turned-songwriter, whose deeply human songwriting has made him “one of Canada’s most revered folk poets and singers” (Toronto Star).
Immigrating to Toronto at age twelve, Francey spent decades working in rail yards, construction sites, and the Yukon bush, quietly composing songs drawn from everyday life. It wasn’t until his 40s, with the encouragement of his wife, artist Beth Girdler, that he began performing publicly. His 1999 debut album Torn Screen Door was an instant success and launched a celebrated musical career.
