Rimsky-Korsakov | Scheherazade
Scott Moore, violin
Hindemith | Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes by Carl Maria von Weber

Scheherazade, based on the Middle Eastern folktales, One Thousand and One Nights, showcases Rimsky-Korsakov’s mastery as an orchestrator and storyteller. Waves of sound feature many instrumental solos with a prominent role throughout for the solo violin. Our very own talented Concertmaster, Scott Moore, will be featured in this performance. The German-Jewish composer Paul Hindemith was newly settled in New York in 1951 when he transformed his sketches of a ballet based on themes by Carl Maria von Weber into his “American Symphony”.

Sol y Canto Launches New Song’s Second Season with Joy, Rhythm, and Soul

Sol y Canto Launches New Song’s Second Season with Joy, Rhythm, and Soul

09-27-2025 7:30 pm -10:00 pm

The Bedford Cultural District’s New Song Music Series launches its second season on Saturday, September 27, with Sol y Canto, the acclaimed Pan-Latin ensemble that has brought audiences to their feet at the Kennedy Center, Boston's Symphony Hall, and  venues around the world.

Led by Puerto Rican/Argentine vocalist and percussionist Rosi Amador and New Mexican guitarist, singer, and composer Brian Amador, Sol y Canto is known for making their music accessible to Spanish- and non-Spanish–speaking audiences alike. They will be joined by cellist, singer, and music educator Queralt Giralt Soler.

Their concerts blend original songs—marked by poetic, often playful lyrics—with inventive arrangements of Latin classics. Expect a night where one moment has you dancing in your seat, the next reflecting quietly, and the next laughing along with the artists’ warmth and wit. With Brian’s intricate guitar work, Rosi’s driving percussion on cajón and bongos, and their spirited vocal improvisations, the ensemble delivers the energy of a full band.

"Dazzling..." -The New Yorker

Over more than 20 years as a recording artist, the jazz piano phenomenon Hiromi has shifted seamlessly from one spellbinding project to the next. In the process, she’s earned a reputation as one of the most explosive live performers in jazz history and a global ambassador for the art form. Her many triumphs include an NPR Tiny Desk Concert that has racked up 2 million views; the opportunity to represent her native Japan with a performance at the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo; 2024 winner for Best Music Score for the animated feature film Blue Giant (Award of the Japanese Academy); and a GRAMMY Award for a collaboration with fusion hero Stanley Clarke. Her artistry is — to borrow a descriptor the New Yorker favored — “dazzling.”
