Brockton Symphony Orchestra - Mozart

Step into the elegance of the Classical era with an afternoon devoted to the genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, from the sacred to the celebratory, and featuring the Austin organ.

The program opens with the sparkling Serenata Notturna, a playful, regal serenade full of wit and charm. Next, delight in the graceful simplicity of Mozart's Church Sonatas, brief, radiant organ works that capture his gift for clarity and balance. We close with the majestic Linz Symphony, written in just four days and overflowing with joyful energy and brilliant orchestration. Celebrate Mozart's timeless brilliance in an afternoon of music that continues to enchant and uplift, centuries later. This concert is made possible by the generous sponsorship of Diane and Kirk Hartung.

Vista Philharmonic Orchestra – Transitions and Variations

Concertmaster Alice Hallstrom’s violin opens the concert on a quiet note that builds throughout Ralph Vaughan-Williams’ exquisitely melodic, pastoral, and quintessentially English work.

Jean Sibelius’ good-natured and deceptively uncomplicated-sounding Symphony No. 3 is a turning point from his first two intensely romantic and nationalistic symphonies to his later, more austere and complex symphonic works. The second half reveals an early 20th century overture by the underplayed (and under-recognized) New York born, Berlin trained composer Helen Crane. We bookend the program with another English composer, BAFTA Award-winning film composer Richard Harvey (The DaVinci Code) whose beloved Concerto Antico is a stunning contemporary Baroque showcase for guest soloist Scott Hill’s guitar.

Lexington Symphony - Celebrating Coexistence

Sheng | China Dreams: II. Fanfare
Anger | Morin Khuur Concerto No. 2 —Monkho, morin khuur McPhee, Colin | Tabuh-Tabuhan Toccata for 2 pianos and orchestra
Stravinsky | Petrushka

This concert offers a culturally rich and exhilarating evening that you won’t want to miss! The international Mongolian morin khuur soloist, Monkho will perform a concerto featuring that ancient national instrument. Colin McPhee’s composition was inspired by melodies played on the Balinese gamelan. We will remain in the Far East as Igor Stravinsky’s Petrushka tells us the magical story of three puppets that come to life in a Russian street fair.
