Ten years ago, pianist Isata and cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason arrived on the international classical music scene by way of Britain’s Got Talent: they made a splash as the eldest and third siblings in a remarkable family of musicians. As their stars rose, the young artists lived up to the hype, earning acclaim from critics and rapturous applause from audiences for recitals, orchestral appearances, and chart-topping recordings.

Atlantic Symphony - Command Performance - A Celebration of Rev250

Old Ship Church, Hingham

Join Atlantic Symphony Orchestra for a special Command Performance celebrating Revolution250 and MA250 at historic Old Ship Church and Meeting House in Hingham.

ASO, in collaboration with Friends of Old Ship Church, the Hingham Historical Society, and The Massachusetts Board of Travel and Tourism, presents Planting the Seeds: A Musical and Spoken Word Celebration of MA250 . This one-of-a-kind event takes place at Hingham's Old Ship Meeting House, built in 1681 and the country's only remaining Puritan meeting house. The performance, built around spotlighting several of ASO's best chamber musicians, Includes a newly composed essay on democracy by renowned poet Charles Coe, with accompanying music, as well as readings of Abigail Adams' essays. ASO's musicians will play colonial and classical music of the time.

And we welcome back Andrew Byun, 2014 winner and rising international soloist, performing Leopold Hofmann's elegant Cello Concerto, a hidden gem from Mozart's era. The afternoon concludes with the vivid magic of Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite, a dazzling tale of transformation and triumph. Together, these pieces will transport you from the iciness of winter into the blooming delight of spring.
